Yesterday, during the joyous celebrations at the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in Meron, Israel, a great tragedy struck. Forty five people lost their lives in a terrible accident, and countless more were injured.
I attended those Lag BaOmer festivities in Meron as a Yeshiva student, and can only imagine how hard it must be for those who came to celebrate and left in heartbreak.
During such a tragic time, we remind ourselves that all Jews, of all backgrounds are family. Our brother or sister's pain is ours.
May G‑d grant comfort to those who find themselves suddenly thrown into mourning, and a speedy recovery to those injured.
May G‑d bless our brethren in Israel with safety and security.
